In its swimwear collection for the summer of 2020, the Californian brand has managed to completely dispense virgin polyester or nylon (from oil). Instead, prAna uses ECONYL® for exciting and eco-friendly bathing styles.

ECONYL® is a recycled nylon. Its primary raw materials – wastes such as fishing nets, fabric remnants, old carpets or industrial plastics – derive from landfills and oceans all over the world. ECONYL® performs similarly to virgin nylon fibers, with the difference that it can be recycled and reshaped over and over again. ECONYL® regenerated nylon is not only a solution for waste but also a better alternative when it comes to fighting climate change. According to the manufacturer Aquafil, it reduces the global warming impact of nylon by up to 80% compared with the material from oil.
